I am really excited to announce that I will be running a 5 week “Introduction to Creative Journaling Workshop” at the Art Studio in Harbour House, Kingsbridge. The sessions will be held on Monday afternoons, starting on 8th January from 1pm to 4pm, until 5th February 2018.
I believe strongly in the power of journaling; as a way to relax, let your thoughts and feelings flow, to express your creativity and also as a great way to organise your life.
In this course we will look at a variety of journaling techniques and you will have the opportunity to start your very own journal. There are no rights and wrongs in journaling and no previous experience is required. It is a simple but effective way to express your creativity, document those special moments and improve your general outlook on life.
Journaling is an ancient tradition, one that dates back to at least 10th century Japan. Many successful people throughout history have kept journals, such as Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, Mark Twain, Leonard da Vinci and Charles Darwin. But don’t worry that your life isn’t “interesting” enough to document! The process of journaling can help you to really appreciate those every day moments that can so easily pass us by.
There is increasing evidence to support the notion that journaling has a positive impact on physical and mental well-being. Plus, it’s also a lot of fun and a wonderful keepsake for future generations.
Week 1: An introduction to the different types of journaling. Getting started with a dot grid journal. Using your journal as a planner. Lettering styles, banners, borders and decoration.
Week 2: More detail on using your dot grid journal, such as gratitude logs, trackers and meal planning. Customising your planning journal to suit your life.
Week 3: Creating a memory keeping and travel journal. Watercolour backgrounds, using distress inks, adding decoration and layout ideas.
Week 4: Decorating your journal cover, incorporating photographs and quote or poem collections. Introduction to starting an art journal.
Week 5: Art journal techniques and backgrounds. Using stencils, stamps, napkins, texture paste and collage.
The 5 week course costs £95 and you will be provided with 3 different types of journals to practise in and keep, so that you can continue your journaling adventure long after the course ends. Warning: once you start, it’s very hard to stop!
You are encouraged to bring your own supplies, such as paints, brushes, pens and pencils. There will also be access to limited art supplies provided during each session. Unfortunately there is no disabled access to the art studio.
If you would like to book on this course, please send me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and I will provide you with a booking form. I will confirm your place upon receipt of payment. Also, please feel free to email or call me with any questions. My mobile number is 07805 195830.
Further dates may be confirmed later in the year, depending on demand.
