I was recently sent some beautiful products by Caran d’Ache* from their latest Claim Your Style special edition collection. These lovely products draw inspiration from the magic of nature.
I created these pages above using the pencils from the two-tone pack, a sheet from their colouring pad and the 849 pen in Purple Ocean colour*. I had forgotten just how relaxing it is to spend some time colouring, seeing the beautiful image slowly come to life. It was perfect then being able to use it in my creative journal.
In this blog post, I will be sharing a step-by-step tutorial for creating some fun floral designs in your own journal. You can click on any of the images to enlarge them.
The two-tone pencils include 3 fluorescent leads and 3 metallic leads which gives some lovely variety to your drawings.
For my flowers, I started off by drawing the outline. I then used another colour to add some detail to the inside of each petal, before the using the original colour to complete the rest of the flower.
I also used two different colours to give some extra interest to the leaves.
In between the three main flowers I added some wavy stems in dark green.
I finished these off with little star-like flowers on top in gold, accentuated with a blue centre.
I decided to create the title Flower Power for my journal pages as it seemed so appropriate to the theme. I drew the outline of the bubble writing in one colour and then shaded in with another.
To finish off my creative journal page I added lots of flowers around the heading and also a leafy branch.
To my right-hand page I drew some large flowers and glued down a quote to help break up the writing space.
The Caran d’Ache 849 pen in Purple Ocean colour is absolutely gorgeous and was perfect for adding my journal writing. I decided to reflect on my love of flowers and why they hold so much meaning to me.
I really hope you enjoyed seeing how I created these journal pages and you can find all the Caran d’Ache products that I used here. You can also watch a video of these pages coming together below, Helen x

I really enjoyed doing this tutorial despite making my flowers different. I will use more vibrant crayons next time or even have a go with oil pastels!
