Journaling When You Don't Have Much to Say

Journaling When You Don't Know What to Write About

Sometimes I'm really in the mood for some creative journaling, but I don't feel that I have much I want to write about. Creating and using my supplies is hugely relaxing for me, so I try not to let my lack of words stop me from using my journal.

In this blog post, I'm going to share how I created my latest journaling spread. You can click on any photo to enlarge the image.

Step 1: I added a washi tape strip down the side of the left-hand page.

Step 2: Next, I glued down some patterned vellum paper.

Step 3: I looked through my old book pages and pieces of paper. I found a plain piece to add some stamping too.

Step 4: I created a simple collage on my page, using the old papers.

Step 5: Next, I added a quote sticker which says, "with brave wings she flies".

Step 6: I used some typrewriter-style stamps to add in the date.

Step 7: Next, I added some pale purple watercolour paint, that matched in with the colours on the opposite page.

Step 8: I added some stamping to the back of a tag.

Step 9: I then used the back of the decorated tag to add a little journal writing.

Step 10: I added the decorative tag to my journal pages, using a thin strip of washi tape.

Step 11: I added a few words of journal writing to my right-hand page.

Despite not having much that I wanted to write about, I found that I felt so calm after creating these pages. The act of picking some supplies, playing with paint and writing a few words of encouragement to myself were just what I needed.

If I'm a little short of inspiration, I will often look through some quotes or lyrics, until I find something that feels just right. This quote can then often inspire a whole journal page, just as it did in this one. "With brave wings she flies", led me to thinking of courage, calmness and butterflies.

I hope this inspires you to keep using your journal, even on the days when words don't flow easily. If you would like to journal along with me whilst watching me create these pages, then you can find the video below.
